8 hurt in Iloilo City grenade blast

A motorcycle-riding man hurled a grenade near a barangay hall in Iloilo City, Saturday morning injuring eight people.
Police identified the victims as Glen Machan, Jason John Tan, Berti Catillo, Ellaso Embal, Rolly Elevencione, Joseph Franco, Rilito Bernanti, and Gladys Gowel.
Witnesses told police that the grenade thrower was seen riding a motorcycle around Barangay Boulevard in Molo District before throwing the grenade at the bystanders.
The barangay hall was damaged by the blast, police added.
Police recovered parts of an M26 A1 JAR type grenade, which investigators admit, is usually used by the military and police in the field.
Investigators have yet to determine the grenade thrower's motive.
