MANILA - Four survivors of a massacre that left at least 24 people dead in Maguindanao province have tagged their political rivals as responsible for the murders, a local official said Tuesday.

Buluan Mayor Ibrahim Mangudadatu said the four witnessed the abduction of the group who were on their way to Shariff Aguak town for the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC) of Vice-Mayor Ismael "Toto" Mangudadatu.

The vice-mayor is seeking the Maguindanao gubernatorial post, which allegedly did not sit well with their political rivals, the Ampatuans.

"They [survivors] were left behind by the convoy because the driver felt the urge to relieve himself. I don't know how many meters away they were [from the incident]," he said in an ANC interview.

He added: "Pamilya Ampatuan daw po ang nagkuha sa kanila along the highway going to Cotabato."

He said the survivors saw how the armed men slapped the vice-mayor's wife, Genalyn, with the certificate of candidacy that was supposed to be filed.

He added that there could be more than four survivors of the incident "because they were riding a van. They didn't push through after they saw the group being stopped."

The Buluan mayor said his group had been receiving threats that they would be massacred if they pushed through with the filing of the COC.

He said the incumbent Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan wanted his successor to run unopposed in the 2010 election when he steps down.

The senior Ampatuan wants one of his sons to succeed him as provincial governor, according to the abs-cbnNEWS.com/ Newsbreak source.

Last year, the Mangudadatus went to Shariff Aguak to ask the senior Ampatuan to allow a member of the clan to vie for the gubernatorial post in 2010, according an abs-cbnNEWS.com/ Newsbreak's military source who is familiar with politics in the area.

According to the source, however, the Ampatuans were displeased because the Mangudadatus brought with them about 200 fully armed men. This, according to the source, contributed to growing animosity between the two camps.

The Buluan mayor said he will leave it up to authorities to bring justice to their family.

In a phone interview with ANC on Monday, Toto Mangudadatu enumerated the following names as part of the group who accompanied the Mangudadatu family in filing Vice Mayor Mangudadatu's certificate of candidacy on his behalf:

No Arrests

in mindanao, a government position is considered a FRANCHISE

it has been a political practice in mindanao that once a member of a family, more so of a "clan" to be elected in a government office (no matter what it takes) and to stay there with their asses like it was some kind of an investment na kailangan nila pangalagaan at ipasa sa relatives. INVESTMENT because they have to spend a lot during election time (not for campaign materials-duh!) and when they are elected, then dapat may return of investment, kesihodang mamulubi and nasasakupan. Dahil nga ng invest sila and for sure kumukita sila, pinapalawak nila ang franchise, and that's when NEPOTISM comes into play.

KILLING AGAINST THEIR FAITH BECAUSE THE GREED OF POWER!

We are deeply touch in our heart everytime we saw muslims praying 5 times a day of their church! but of what they are praying for is nothing against their goal to have fame and success in human history! it was also remind us that in every step of our life there is corresponding consequences at all! how can we imagine these people fighting each other and killing womens and kids for what they so called public service! it is the things that they are going to promise us? can you say something that these guys have guts of doing this without something to be depend of: it is she? PGMA has had something to do in this crime why? because this responsible group were the long time political allies of Madam Gloria? and because of power these guys wanted to remain themselves to stay at all cost! well, we can see it of how the Arroyo government move to their investigations, but am sure at the end of the day this case remains unclosed and a part of political history!... i am from Mindanao and i know how these muslims regions act by then, they were thinking they can easily killed someone because they were protected of their beliefs, families and co-muslims. they cant even think of what is good and bad but for them weather weather lang.....peace!

For it is Gods will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 1 PETER 2:15

Mag-aral, makisama, mag mahal, wag kang takot kse bobo

Greed for Money and Politics

All because of greed for money and politics.

to ocsd 10 - inapproapriate comment plus mali maling grammar..

ocsd 10 your comment has nothing to do with the maguindanao massacre. It's purely political in nature.. Please review your English grammar also. It sucks!!! Buti pa ng Tagalog ka na lang. Ma appreciate pa cguro ng mga readers. Sobra kang trying hard...

Massacre

The truth shall prevail and criminals should be punish...stop tolerating private armies...goverment leaders of that place who were involve in the plan of massacre should be relieved in their goverment seats as well as should be block list in politics...That incident is enough lesson for those national politician or leaders who tolerated the politician's formation of private armies due to their own personal political interest.......

investigation then what? (recycled style)

GUSTO PA NILANG PALAWAKIN ANG ARMM naalala niyon diba. (para mas marami manakaw nila)

dami kaya kinurakot nila.
pati ba yong tulong ng japan ginamit/ binulsa.

para gawing 6 mansion dito sa davao. KAPAL

CORRUPTION AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Philippines has been a corrupted country since Manuel L.Quezon up to present.Because of lack of sincerity, the succeeding presidents didn't take any actions to sequester all the corrupted money, properties and human rights. Not one of these candidates like,Villar,Noynoy,Gibo,Escudero,or Estrada can take actions.Bayani Fernando, who is implementing the laws, even though it will hurt him in his political campaign. He is more action than promise.Bayani Fernando is the man of "ACTION IS LOUDER THAN VOICE".
AFP-Arm Forces of the Philippines,to protect the constitution.
PMA-Philippine Military Academy, military and police officers are graduated here
AWOL-Absent Without Leave, military and police officer disobeyed the constitution.
PDOM-Political Drama of Officers in the Military
WEAPONS- are all from AFP
REBEL MUSLIMS- weapons from AFP
NPA- weapons from AFP
KIDNAPER- weapons from AFP
POLITICIAN- supported by AFP
MILITARY OFFICER- supported by higher politician
POLICE OFFICER- supported by higher politician
Who's going to catch the criminals like the big time killer, kidnaper, robbery, abusive of human rights and corrupted politician and businessmen? The small patrolman or ordinar police, who is getting order to their superior officer.
