Notorious rob suspect in Cebu nabbed after latest hit
CEBU CITY - A notorious suspected snatcher who is also a suspect in various murder cases in the city and Cebu province was arrested by operatives of Mabolo Police Station through a pursuit operation following his alleged latest robbery inside a jeepney.
20-year old James Dio, also known as Rodrigo Orangurin and from Barangay Pardo in Cebu City, was nabbed after being positively identified by his latest victim. The arrest was made fifteen minutes after the victim reported the incident to Mabolo police.
The victim, Lor, not her real name, told ABS-CBN News that she was on board a Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) along North Reclamation Area when the suspect declared a hold-up. The suspect allegedly pointed a fan knife at Lor's waist and immediately grabbed her bag.
The bag reportedly contained the victim’s cell phone worth ten thousand pesos, her MP4 player, her wallet with P2,000 cash and also her office uniform.
The suspect allegedly had two companions whom he reportedly identified as a certain Jun-Jun and Ta-Ta.
The two, however, fled after the robbery, purportedly taking with them the victim’s bag.
Police Officer 2 Ruben Perater, arresting officer, said that more than twenty complainants reported the same descriptions as the robbery suspects which propelled their immediate pursuit operation.
"The other two suspects were able to rush inside the narrow streets of North Reclemation, it's impossible to find them there, but we will still conduct operations to successfully bring in all suspects," said Perater in the dialect.
A silver “Batangas” fan knife, a cellphone and a sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be a banned drug called shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were allegedly found in the suspect's pocket.
Chief Superintendent Claudio Casiban of Mabolo Police Station told ABS-CBN News that Cebu City Homicide Section was able to report three standing murder cases against the suspect.
Casiban is now calling for other victims of the suspect to file charges against Dio.
