MANILA - President Arroyo’s second son on Thursday has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the congressional seat of the new 2nd district of Camarines Sur.

Camarines Sur 1st district Diosdado Ignacio “Dato” Macapagal-Arroyo filed his COC to the Commission on Elections office in the province after the poll body implemented the law creating 1 more district in the province bringing to 3 the congressional districts in the province for the May 2010 elections in the Philippines.

Aside from his wife Kakai and daughter Eve Victoria, he was accompanied by mayors of the towns in the new district as well as from those from the 1st district.

When he won as congressman of the province’s 1st district in 2007, Rep, Arroyo however lost in San Fernando town.

Brothers Subas and Fermin Mabulo are the ones who have strong support in the town.

Fermin, who was a member of the Magdalo group, is reportedly being eyed by the Liberal Party to run against Rep. Arroyo for the 2nd district’s congressional seat.

Fermin, who is also San Fernando’s incumbent mayor, said however he is still considering the congressional run.

Due to this, Rep. Arroyo was confident he would now be able to gain the winning votes in the town.

Arroyo’s son was reported to be frequenting the town of his political rival. From a report of Jonathan Magistrado, ABS-CBN News Bicol
