Alcala installed as new Lucena mayor
MANILA, Philippines – Lucena Vice Mayor Roderick Alcala has finally been installed as the city’s mayor following the issuance of the writ of execution by the Supreme Court (SC).
Alcala took his oath of office at the city hall annex in Barangay Isabang on Thursday, in the presence of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Josefina Castilla-Go, Vice Governor Vicente Alcala and supporters.
Alcala replaced former Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga, who was ousted following a decision by the Commission on Elections en banc to annul her proclamation.
Talaga filed a motion for reconsideration but the SC finally denied the motion with finality on November 13.
Talaga’s husband, former Lucena Mayor Ramon Talaga Jr. will run against Alcala for the mayoral post in the 2013 mid-term elections. -- Report from Johnny Glorioso, dzMM
