(UPDATE 3) Military takes full custody of Andal Ampatuan, Sr.
MANILA (UPDATE 3) - The military has taken full custody of former Maguindanao governor Andal Ampatuan Sr and transferred him to a military camp from the Davao Doctors' Hospital Sunday evening where he was confined.
In a report on ANC's The World Tonight, ABS-CBN Davao's Vina Araneta reported that about 20 military personnel entered the hospital room of Ampatuan Sr.
Dr. Tahir Sulaik, doctor of Ampatuan Sr., earlier said during a live phone interview that soldiers forced their way into the hospital room where the former governor was confined.
Emotions were high as women were heard crying in the background during the interview with Sulaik.
Araneta reported that lawyers of Ampatuan Sr. were asking for a doctor since the blood pressure of the former governor had reportedly gone up again. The lawyers said the soldiers forced them out of the room.
A few moments later a man covered by a blanket was brought out of the hospital on a stretcher and immediately taken to an ambulance by the military.
Inside the ambulance was one soldier and the driver of the vehicle. No member of the family or personal security of Ampatuan Sr. was seen to have boarded the ambulance, the report added.
The ambulance, accompanied by the military, then left the hospital and headed to Camp Panacan (Armed Forces' Eastern Mindanao Command headquarters), around 10 kilometers from the hospital, but Araneta said the route taken by the convoy is not the usual route to the camp.
Sources later confirmed with ABS-CBN News that Ampatuan Sr. has been transferred already to the hospital inside the camp.
Military and police initially took custody of Ampatuan Sr. Saturday after martial law was declared but the former governor was brought to the hospital in Davao City after his blood pressure reportedly went up.
Reports said it is possible that the former Maguindanao governor will be brought to Manila on Monday.
Ampatuan Sr. was earlier included as one of the respondents in the multiple murder complaint filed by the police in connection with the gruesome election-related massacre in Ampatuan, Maguindanao, which claimed the lives of at least 57 persons including 30 journalists.
His son, Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr., was arrested and tagged by authorities as the principal suspect in the gruesome killings. He is currently detained at the National Bureau of Investigation jail in Manila.
After President Arroyo on Friday declared martial law in Maguindanao, authorities said that those who will be detained will be processed for rebellion charges.
In her report to Congress on Sunday evening, President Arroyo blamed the powerful Maguindanao clan for an “existing armed political uprising” in the province as the basis for Friday’s declaration of martial law and suspension of the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus in Maguindanao.
“The Ampatuan group backed by formidable group of armed followers, have since used their strength and political position to deprive the Chief Executive of her power to enforce the law and to maintain public order and safety,” said the 20-page report signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita. I posted this yesterday:
Aaaaaaaaaaah! What a wonderful and beautiful morning when I wake up seeing the whole city was blunketed by snow. It is the first snow storm of the season and it really helps uplift the spirit of Christmas. Ang speaking of Christmas, we Pinoys are very spiritual and feeling more closeness to our loved ones. This beautiful sight this morning had given me an opportunity to reflect and at the same time draw self criticism where I criticize myself for any negative things that I've said or done. And this is what my conscience dictates:
To anyone that I have offended, I owe you an apology. I shouldn't have
responded to name calling with name calling and belittling. Degrading or belittling anyone is not my nature and not my forte. I always respect anyone's opinion and never engage in name calling and personal attacks if we disagree with certain issues. I will not impose my opinion on anyone whose opinion is different from mine. I will still post my comments on issues that I might find interesting and will engage to any healthy discussions. I will not stoop down to that level of name calling, personal attacks, trash talks and any profanities. Let's be civilized in posting and/or responding to comments and be respectful of others. Besides, we all
want a better Philippines and honest politicians. Let's make it happen by setting a good example that despite our differences in our opinions, we are one in our dream to make Philippines a better place to live for all Filipinos. Despite my long absence (OFW in KSU for 8 years and now North America for 20 years), I still call the Philippines my home. Being OFW is not a joke and it's hard for both OFW and his/her family.
Well, I don't know about you guys but it feels Christmas here already.
Actually, I started my countdown since September and the time went by
just like that. So, Have a safe Holiday Season and Peace.
Manong andoy the main objectives of ML right there is a swift moved to disarmed all private armies in connection of the massacre and by then, if the weapons is positive of the ballistic test in connection to the crime this can be used to connect the suspects and totally can solved the case even if it is confiscated during ML gets? all of this is beyond probable cause depende kung gaano ka bigat ang ebedensya at gaano ka credible ang testimony ng mga witnesses. sana nman po huwag kayo maging paranoid at hipokrito sa usaping ito at isantabi niyo muna ang galit niyo kay Arroyo?
I dare you now subukan mong pumunta doon particularly in Maguindanao at magdala ka ng libro at isigaw ang batas na sinasabi mo kung may maniniwala ba sa iyo? subukan mong tumira doon under Ampatuan Law tingnan lang natin kung hindi ka iihi sa takot? Tingnan natin kung kaninong itlog ang pipiyok? Palibhasa ang galing niyong magsalita eh wala nman kayong ginawa? At am sure wala kayong magawa kundi ang mag-ingay? alam Manong andoy o brother andoy palaboy lahat naman tayo galit kay Gloria pero sa usaping ito sana nman tigilan niyo yang usaping pang politika? tinatanong niyo ang legalities ng ML dahil takot kayo sa technicalities eh hayaan niyo muna ang mga imbestigador sa kaso at maglahad ng mga ebedensiya bago kayo manghusga: eh kung wala kayong magawa para solusyunan ang Isla ng Mindanao particularly now in Maguindanao eh sana tumahimik nalang kayo? sa mga moslem territory bro doon ay minsan kinalimutan na ng mga ibang tao ang due process, some people were not after of what you said constitution, people right there were challenged on how to survived each day of living sa kahit anong paraan kaya huwag kayong magmalaki na may malasakit kayo sa mga tao doon dahil sa totoo lang Martial Law right there as of now is better than Ampatuan Law? Martial Law right now is totally different before during Marcos Regime and under 1935 Constitution. kaya ung mga kinatatakutan niyo ay possibe din yan mangyari pero dapat niyong tandaan that Mrs. Gloria Arroyo is one way ahead of us and now we need to moved on. Whenever Gloria is proven guilty of her mistakes let the law will prevail and the justice system will work for it? iyong mga sinisigaw niyo laban kay Gloria ay hindi solusyon sa Maguindanao ngayon at lalo na sa Massacre kya kung sa akala niyo magaling kayo punta kayo doon ngayon at subukan niyong manghuli ng private armies at mag imbestiga ng kaso gets?
Kaskas
Does that make any sense to you? sabagay wala ka naman yata noon, so no doubt ganyan ka mag-isip. Rebellion lang at Invasion hindi mo pa maipaliwanag, so paano pa ang ibang complex na bagay.......Isa ka nga sa mga pinoy na ang level ng education ay bumababa na and I can see it from your postings tutal may access ka naman sa internet why don't you research.
Eto part ng Section 18 ng 1987 Constitution under Article 7 Executive Department:
In case of INVASION or REBELLION, when the public safety requires it, he may, for a period not exceeding sixty days, suspend the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus or place the Philippines or any part thereof under martial law. Within forty-eight hours from the proclamation of martial law or the suspension of the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus, the President shall submit a report in person or in writing to the Congress.
O ayan basahin mo at intindihin mo mabuti at huwag mo puro pang sanggano ang nalalaman mo i-post.

There is no sense in debating with you guys as you are all not in a state of mind. There is no legal and factual basis with your arguments period. If I continue debating with you ay mabobobo ako na katulad ninyo. Sagutin niyo huh at assignment niyo yan.
To andoybarrios....

at andoybarrios
sabi ni andoybarrios:
"There are hundreds of Media in Maguindanao and don't you think they will be the first to inform the public if there is any danger or threat at all sa public security?"
Are you retarded? Do you think the media will do any amount of intelligence-gathering seeing what happened to their comrades just a week before?
with regards to the MILF, andoybarrios, they are separatist rebels and they are legitimately recognized by the government. they are not declared lawless elements. and there is also on-going peace negotiations. there is no need of martial law for that.
Why we need martial law in Maguindanao is this--
We have a warlord controlling an 3000-strong force you want to capture. There are maybe over 5,000 individual arms in that region that the government needs to confiscate. There are thousands of rounds of ammunition in the region with DND markings that are not in the hands of legitimate military forces. ---- see below---
"The President shall be the Commander-in-Chief of all armed forces of the Philippines and whenever it becomes necessary, he may call out such armed forces to prevent or suppress lawless violence, invasion or rebellion. In case of invasion or rebellion, when the public safety requires it...xxx"
LAWLESS VIOLENCE. Does that not just about sum up what is happening in Maguindanao? Is that not the result of the proliferation of arms?
The longer we wait to clean up this mess, the harder this mess will taint us.
ANDAMING OA
Shut up already about Martial Law and how it looks Marcosian. All you do people do is complain. And i know you people, you're the type that runs to your momma when push comes to shove.
You know why i fully support martial law in Maguindanao? because it allows me to exercise my civilian right to keep the government in check. because when martial law is all said and done and i find that its declaration was for political ends, then i can take to the streets again and exercise my right as a free and thinking man, capable of holding accountable those who F'd up. If the cost of Martial law is the return of a peaceful Maguindanao, one where people aren't afraid to walk the streets at night, where ideas and conversation aren't arbitered by a barrel of a gun, then it is a small price to pay. Come to think of it, Maguindanao has been for many years cast in a martial law-like state. So the situation brought by the current declaration of martial law is not necessarily as detached as the Maguindanao situation before.
@kaskas05 tol hindi sila mga
Conspiracy, conspiracy where are thee?
Sagot: Unang una palang, napatawan na ng 25 murder charges si Andal Amptuan, the main suspect and also those directly involved in the carnage. The rebellion was charged against the REMAINING Ampatuans who are still in power in Maguindanao, who refused to cooperate and were still not in the custody of the military.
Naka dalawang people's power na tayo.
The Martial law was imposed to stop rebellion, to hasten the charges against the Amptuans, and to ensure public safety in Maguindanao.
