The mansion where Manny Pacquiao and his family lives was filled with joy as the "People's Champ" once again reigned at the boxing arena.
Everyone in General Santos City kept on cheering as Manny released punches to Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya.
And on the 8th round, as it was announced that Manny won by technical knock-out against de la Hoya, everybody, including Manny’s mother Aling Dionesia, leaped in celebration for his victory.
Dionesia Pacquiao stayed inside her prayer room all throughout the fight.
She thanked the Lord for answering her prayers, and even thanked the Filipino people who offered prayers for Manny's victory.
“I asked the Lord to have pity on Manny and not let the fight reach ten rounds. The Lord heard my prayers,” said Dionesia in the vernacular.
Meanwhile, around 6,000 people gathered inside the General Santos City gym to witness the “Dream Match”, considered the biggest fight of Pacquiao.
City officials, including Mayor Pedro Acharon, Jr. and South Cotabato 1st District Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custodio were among the crowd to show support for Manny.
Acharon said the victory that Pacquiao has brought is a victory for all.
Hours before the fight, Aling Dionesia and some relatives joined together to pray as early as 7 in the morning at a church. Chat Ansagay, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN
