Two crewmen were hurt after armed bandits attacked two cargo vessels in Sultan Kudarat, Monday night.

Col. Julieto Ando, spokesman of the Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division, said gunmen on board to pumpboats strafed and fired a grenade launcher at two cargo vessels at the wharf of Kalamansig town around 11:30 p.m.

Ando said a chief engineer, identified as Irvin Tigunan and his apprentice Ralph Dollete, were hit by shrapnel from an M79 grenade launcher.

The military official said the gunmen were members of an extortion group.
