Angat dam releases water
MANILA, Philippines – Angat dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan released water Friday noon after it reached its spilling level due to non-stop rains.
The National Power Corporation (Napocor) Corporate Communications Manager Dennis Gana said the dam’s water had reached the spilling level of 215.55 meters, prompting the management to open 1 gate by a meter.
Residents living in low-lying areas around the dam were also advised to seek higher grounds.
Gana said the electricity being generated from the hydroelectric plant has been reduced due to technical problems.
Weather bureau PAGASA on Friday said the northeast monsoon (amihan) is causing heavy rains over the northern Luzon. Wind convergence, on the other hand, is affecting Metro Manila, Bicol region and some parts of Visayas.
