Flashflood hits thousands in North Cotabato
NORTH COTABATO, Philippines - As of December 8, 2,994 families from 13 barangays of Kabacan, North Cotabato have been displaced due to flashflood since Thursday.
Pulangi River overflowed due to the heavy rains brought by typhoon Pablo.
However, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) of the Municipality of Kabacan is yet to determine the estimated cost of the devastated crops.
Among the affected barangays were Simbuhay, Nangaan, Buluan, Pedtad, Kayaga, Magatos, Kilagasan, Lower Pataan, Cuyapon, Tamped, Simone, Aringay and Malanduague.
"As of Saturday, the flood had partially subsided and we are happy because no one was hurt from the flashflood. We hope it won't rain hard anymore so water level will get back to normal after more or less three days." Kabacan MDRRMC's Susan Macalapit said.
Meanwhile, the Kabacan local government has already extended relief goods to the affected families.
Four schools had also been hit by the flashflood.
The local government will continue monitoring the situation and will see if classes can resume on Monday.
