A 29-foot whale was found wounded and in a weakened condition by a fisherman in the nearby bay in Barangay Calayo in Nasugbu town Batangas province early morning Thrusday.

The Bryde's whale bore 16 peso-sized caused by a cookiecutter shark's bites, according to the World Wildlife Foundation.

"Nagjo-jogging ako, kinilabutan nga ako, Akala ko kung ano. Kaagad kong rineport sa Barangay Hall," German Reyes, the fisherman said.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources office in Calaca, Manila South Coast Development Corporation, Nasugbu Tourism and Philippine National Police – Nasugbu as well as the local government led by Barangay Chairman Miguel Limeta immediately responded to the wahle which was stranded at the bay.

Soon after the whale was injected with an antibiotic (Streptomycin Limopenstrep) however, the whale regained its strength. It was almost noon when the whale was able to go back to deeper waters.

The whale's age was estimated at 5 years old.

"In the past kapag nasusugatan, ang tendency humihingi ng tulong, kaya pumupunta sa laot" said Limeta on what he believed was the behavior of the whale.

In the past years, 5 cases of Butandings (whale sharks)were seen in the said barangay which is located near the China Sea.
