Pacman gets hero's welcome in Gensan
GENERAL SANTOS CITY - People's Champ Manny Pacquiao received a hero's welcome as he arrived here in the city Friday morning.
Fans chanted as the boxing champ stepped out of the airplane at GenSan airport and boarded a vehicle for the motorcade.
Hundreds of students went out of their classrooms to get a glimpse of the number one pound-for-pound boxing champion in the world today. Others sang birthday songs for Pacquiao as his motorcade passed.
General Santos Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. took the boxing champ around the city, with the motorcade covering eleven barangays from the airport.
At a press conference, Pacquiao thanked his kababayans for their moral and spiritual support.
Pacquiao admitted that he had already achieved his greatest dream and that is to be included in boxing's hall of fame.
In the afternoon, Pacquiao spearheaded his international darts tournament where P2 million is at stake.
The city government also prepared a dinner and a victory party for Pacquiao at the oval plaza Friday night.
