Damage due to 'Pablo' balloons to P14-B

MANILA, Philippines – The amount of damage due to typhoon "Pablo" has reached P14 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Wednesday.

The NDRRMC said the agriculture sector took the most damage at P9.51 billion, while the costs of damage for infrastructures and private properties were pegged at P4.47 billion and P48.68 million, respectively.

A total of 9 roads and 19 bridges were damaged by the typhoon, which brought strong winds and rains when it slammed into Mindanao packing maximum winds of 175 kph.

Three areas remain without communication lines, while 37 electricity and 6 water sources were affected.

At least 133,588 houses were damaged by the typhoon.

The NDRRMC said the death toll from the typhoon is now at 740. This figure is expected to rise as 890 remain missing.
