Magnitude 4.3 quake jolts Antique, Boracay
MANILA -- A magnitude 4.3 earthquake jolted parts of Western Visayas, including Antique and Boracay Island, on Friday afternoon.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake struck at 34 kilometers northeast of San Jose De Buenavista in Antique at 12:48 p.m.
Intensity III was felt in Tibiao in Culasi, San Jose in Antique, and Caticlan.
Intensity II, meanwhile, was felt in Boracay Island.
The quake had a depth of 1 kilometer. It was tectonic in origin.
Speaking to radio dzMM, Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the quake was caused by the movement of the West Panay Fault.
No casualties and damages were reported from the incident.
No aftershocks are expected.
Meanwhile, Solidum advised residents to always be ready in case a massive quake hits the area.
"Dapat maging conscious na dapat naghahanda... For those residents na nasa Panay, dapat isa na sa mga pinagahahandaan ang earthquake, di lang po mga bagyo," he said.
