'Pablo' victims ordered to stop begging
MANILA, Philippines – Compostela Valley Governor Arturo Uy has ordered his constituents affected by typhoon "Pablo" to stop begging for cash or food.
This, after a resident was hit by a vehicle while attempting to pick up coins thrown by a passing motorist.
Uy said the victim is now in stable condition.
The governor said he has ordered barangay watchmen to prevent the residents, especially children, from begging for alms.
Uy admitted that the province is still suffering from food shortage, as transportation to some isolated areas remains a problem. – report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
