MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents on Tuesday recovered several bricks of cocaine found by a fisherman in the waters of Eastern Samar province.

Major Roy Danilo of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said the recovered drugs could have been part of a 1 ton of cocaine that was to be shipped from South America to Hong Kong.

Danilo said the PDEA was recently alerted by the US coast guard about the 1 ton cocaine shipment. He said the unidentified ship's crew threw the cocaine near the waters of Borongan town, after being warned of an anti-drugs operation against them.

He said a fisherman found bricks of cocaine floating off the coast of Barangay Mina-anod in Llorente town the other day.

The PDEA has yet to determine the weight of the recovered cocaine. With a report from Dexter Ganibe, radio dzMM
