Blast in GenSan injures three

The blast from an explosive device hurled at a police box in General Santos City Tuesday evening injured three persons.

An initial report said the explosive device was thrown at a police box in Barangay Lagao 7:40 p.m.

A policeman, his girlfriend and a waiter were wounded by shrapnel, said the initial report.

The type of explosive device was not yet identified as of posting.

The report said that witnesses said the device was hurled by a man onboard a motorcycle.

Earlier Tuesday, a bomb exploded inside a tricycle in Esperanza town in Sultan Kudarat province at around 7 p.m., killing one person.

According to initial police reports, the explosion occurred at Barangay Saliao in Esperanza killing the driver of the vehicle and wounding another.

Initial investigation by police said the bomb was placed inside a sack of charcoal loaded on the vehicle.

Lt. Col. Romeo Brawner, Army spokesman, in a text message meanwhile said a policeman was the one reported slightly wounded. He said the fatality is believed to have been the courier of what he called a improvised explosive device which exploded near a checkpoint.
