MANILA, Philippines – A town mayor's grandson was arrested by anti-narcotics operatives in an operation in Odiongan town, Romblon province, Tuesday night.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said its operatives arrested Michael Brian Lanzona at the town's public market for transporting a block of marijuana with an estimated street value of P10,000.
The PDEA said Lanzona, a grandson of Odiongan Mayor Baltazar Firmalo, bought the drug supply from Tondo district in Manila.
It said the suspect smuggles the drugs into Odiongan town, where he peddles it.
The suspect has been brought to the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City. He is facing charges of transportation of dangerous drugs and controlled chemicals.
