Another quake hits Southern Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines - Another earthquake on Wednesday evening hit the Southern Mindanao area after 3 tremors were recorded in the area over the weekend.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that a Magnitude 5.5 quake was recorded 7:17 p.m.. The tremor’s epicenter was located 74 kilometers southeast of mati in Davao Oriental province.

Phivolcs said the quake, which was tectonic, was shallow in origin as estimated it’s depth to be 32 kilometers deep.

The quake was reportedly felt at Intensity 4 in Davao City Intensity 3 in Koronadal City as well as in Digos and Don Marcelino in Davao Del Sur; and intensity 2 in General Santos City, Tagum City.

The country’s seismology agency also said that it does not expect damage to have been caused by the latest quake but said it expected aftershocks.
