MANILA, Philippines – A 57-year-old businessman was robbed and killed in Passi City, Iloilo province on Tuesday night.

Alfonso Uy Jr. was pronounced dead on arrival at the Passi District Hospital. Uy succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Police said motorcycle-riding gunmen fired at Uy while he was driving his car on a road in Passi City around 6 p.m. The victim was with his 3 helpers, who survived the ambush.

The helpers told police that the gunmen took the victim's 2 cellular phones and P20,000 cash, which the businessman earned from selling eggs.

Investigations showed that there were about 12 to 18 suspects onboard 5 other motorcycles involved in the crime.

The helpers identified two of the suspects through the police's rogues' gallery. The two were named as Eljohn Gardose and Erwin Alarba, alleged members of the Alarba robbery group.
