(UPDATE) Firecracker stalls in 2 Luzon areas hit by explosions, fire
MANILA, Philippines - Firecracker stalls in 2 separate areas in Luzon were hit by explosions and fire on Thursday afternoon, reports said, killing at least 1 person and injuring 9 others.
In Muñoz City in Nueva Ecija province, an estimated 25 stalls, which were also selling firecrackers, went up in smoke past 5 p.m..
The stalls were located in front of the city hall of Muñoz.
Authorities said 1 vendor has been confirmed killed in the blaze while 9 were injured.
The 50-year-old fatality, who was not named by officials, was reportedly totally burned in the blaze.
Probers were still investigating the cause of the fire as reports varied. One report said that a lighted cigarette was thrown near the stalls which might have ignited the firecrackers while another said 1 kid lit a firecracker near the stalls.
Meanwhile, a row of stalls also selling firecrackers in San Manuel town in Pangasinan province went ablaze, reportedly after an explosion 5 p.m..

since 15th to 31th december there has been somuch trouble with children being burnt and houses and now business burnt, when is the government going to learn , i heard a government spokeman on t.v news and he said if we ban fireworks the people will lose there jobs, well is that what he thinks , about time this philippines government learn a simple rule that they have forgotten ( saftey first to there people and find a way ) as we say if there is a will there is a way . so if the government is there for there people and health.
one thing its not all ways about the money, so tell me why u not ban fireworks , because the government lose the money they make in taxes, is this it . about time to find a president that will REALY ) put the health and saftey first to there people.... u tellme love to know.
