Gibo wins in Ateneo mock poll
MANILA, Philippines - Administration bet Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro Jr. won in the Ateneo de Manila University's mock election held earlier this month.
Teodoro has not fared well in surveys, but he defeated frontrunner and Ateneo alumnus, Sen. Benigno Aquino III, a report from The Guidon, the Ateneo's official student newspaper, said. (Original story: Gibo triumphs in mock polls)
Teodoro got 598 votes, while Aquino had 589, in the poll of more than 1,700 students.
Organizers of the mock election admitted, they were ‘surprised’ by the results, saying they thought Aquino would emerge victorious.
Teodoro is an alumnus of Ateneo's traditional rival, De La Salle University.
The Lakas-Kampi-CMD party said they now believe the youth will propel Teodoro to the presidency. ABS-CBN News Channel
