MANILA, Philippines – Officials of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) met Tuesday morning with the Filipino worker who was deported from Qatar last week after he was mistaken to be the suspect in a road-rage killing in the Philippines.

Jason Aguilar was summoned by officials of the POEA after it was discovered that his recruitment agency, Multisystems Connection, was allegedly involved in several anomalies.

Aguilar was working as a welder in Qatar when he was detained and deported after being mistaken for Jason Ivler, suspect in the road-rage killing of the son of Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr.

Reports said Aguilar was allegedly swindled by the company because he paid P9,500 instead of P5,000 for the processing fees. He was also asked to pay P25,000 of his salary per month for 4 months, even though he only received around P15,000 monthly.

“Kasi bigay lang ako ng bigay sa kagustuhan kong makaalis kagad. Kung magkano ang ano nila, talagang pinangungutang ko para ibigay sa kanila,” Aguilar said.

Also, it was found out that the recruitment agency allegedly uses other names such as Gem 22.

A representative of the recruitment company, however, denied the allegation.

"Hindi ko masasabi iyon, kasi on the first place ang alam ko lang iyong Multisystem based doon sa records on file with POEA na siya ang deploying agency. Ngayon, with regards to Gems, I cannot talk about it," Rolando Antonio, Multisystem Connection consultant.

Aguilar is still deciding whether or not to file charges against the agency.

From the POEA, the family went to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), where Aguilar received a pledge of support from the officials of the government agency.

“In-offer na namin siya kung gusto niyang mag-negosyo, kahit maliit na negosyo muna at lalaki naman iyan. Tutulungan at gagabayan din siya ng OWWA,” OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimzon said.

Meanwhile, the OFW also dropped by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to make sure his name has already been cleared by law enforcement agencies.

He also hoped that promises of support given to him would be fulfilled.

“Sa mga nangangako, sana ay tuparin, huwag mapako. 'Yon nga, bigyan ako ng trabaho dito sa Pilipinas kasi nga ayoko na talagang mangibang bansa. 'Yong isang matatag na trabaho,” Aguilar said. Atom Araullo, ABS-CBN News, TV Patrol World

WOW How shocking !! Come on,

WOW How shocking !! Come on, who is really surprised by this ?? The Philippines needs to come down hard on the criminals who take advantage of the OFW`s multiple years in jail should send a message to those agencies who charge fees that are over the limit. Also jail time is needed to those govt officials who take bribes from the agencies. If everything stays the same nothing changes.

WHAT?

Come on POEA, don’t play dumb.

It is a common knowledge and you know that excessive placement fees and processing fees are the norms of the day when it comes to applying for jobs abroad.

I dare and challenge OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dizon to see for herself the long list of OFWs woes / cases.

MGA HIPOKRITA KAYO !!!
