Filipino bowling enthusiasts participated in charity bowling for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163, a child care program of the ABS-CBN Foundation.

The Bantay Bata 163 Team Vienna conducted the Strike 9 Charity bowling for the Foundation.

Participants were very glad that such initiative had been staged for the benefit of poor children in the Philippines.

“When I learned that there is a charity bowling for Bantay Bata 163, I immediately decided to join. I want to help in my own little way, lalung-lalo na para sa mga bata sa Pilipinas,” said Filipino bowler Rodel Reyes.

“First and foremost, I joined the Strike 9 in order to play and the same time, to help. Kahit manalo o matalo, ang purpose ay para makatulong,” said Edgardo Lapiz.

Cynthia Martinez-Hofer, one of the organizers of the Charity Bowling expressed her gratitude for the warm reception of the “kababayans”.

“It is overwhelming to know and feel that our countrymen here in Austria still show their care for our less-privileged brothers and sisters in the Philippines. Their participation to our Strike 9 Charity Bowling is indeed a big help in order to support and maintain the programs of BB163 which we embraced since this child-welfare program was introduced to Austria in 2004,” Martinez-Hofer said.

With the success of the Strike 9 Charity Bowling, Bantay Bata 163 Vienna is again planning to conduct a bigger charity affair this year.
