MANILA, Philippines – A California-based Filipino immigration lawyer will give a free seminar on US immigration laws here on January 31st.

Lawyer Adolfo Nabor, whose areas of expertise include immigration concerns, personal injury and family petitions, will discuss the various facets of US immigration. Particularly, Nabor is expected to explain the US Immigration process and help applicants do a self assessment of their chances of migrating to the US.

The seminar also aims to describe some of the important requirements for migrating, studying, or for working in the US; give new migrants a clear picture of the challenges they will be facing when they arrive in the US; describe some pre-departure decisions would be migrants should think about; describe the possible scenarios that could happen to migrants; and give new migrants tips on how they can minimize risks and avoid common mistakes.

However, it is not the intention of the seminar to provide legal advice or promote migration to the US, the organizers clarified.

The event has been organized by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA) and Phils YMCA Ph.

The organizers said Nabor, who hails from Baler, Aurora, has agreed to conduct the free seminar as part of his “modest way of giving back to his roots.”

Dubbed as “Ang Mag-Abroad ay Hindi Biro: A Free Seminar on US Immigration Laws,” the event  will be held at Hotel Indah Manila in Ermita from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants, preferably those who already filed their application at the US Embassy or with pending petitions, are requested to pre-register as slots are limited.
