More and more singles are trying to find their future partners by visiting online dating services.

One Filipino Australian is currently using a dating site to look for her “Mr. Right”.

“Luisa”, who is in her early 40s, arrived in Australia five years ago. ABS-CBN Australian News Bureau correspondent Chito Javier reported that Luisa is still single and has never been in a serious relationship.

Luisa said one of her colleagues at work got engaged after starting a relationship in cyberspace.

“Of course my apprehensions ako but I used the site that was recommended by a friend in the Philippines who once used it. I guess all sites would have this do’s and don’ts,” Luisa said.

In her profile, Luisa did not use her real name but she posted her real picture. She received more than 100 responses. However, she said she admits to be careful and choosy in responding to them.

"I guess the basic response at least similarities in what you want to do like hobbies," she said.

Luisa takes online dating seriously and she is hoping that some friendship would soon start through emails.

“Three or four years ago, you don’t hear much about the story. Whatever culture you are, you hear of people saying and admitting yes they met through the Internet,” said Luisa.
