A free medical and dental mission was launched recently by Filipinos in Saudi Arabia belonging to the group called Circulo Ilonggo sa Jeddah.

ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau correspondent Charles Tabbu reported that the dental and medical mission was held at the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah.

"Most of our kababayan are freely availing of this free medical and dental mission and also this is one way to reach out to our kababayans,” said Juliet Roa of Circulo Ilonggo sa Jeddah.

More than 100 volunteer nurses, doctors, pharmacists and dentists participated in the event to help fellow Filipinos in need of dental and medical assistance.

The group gave free meningitis vaccine shots, medicines and consultation, tooth extraction services and even offered massage therapy to Pinoys courtesy of the group Kapit-Bisig.

The medical mission was a big help to many Filipinos who are trying to save their earnings particularly during this global economic crisis.

According to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, 58 overseas Filipino workers already died this year, some due to heart attack and high blood pressure.

The group conducts the medical mission annually.
