Four Filipinos were found positive for infection of A(H1N1) virus after they arrived in Hong Kong, a Philippine diplomat reported.
Philippine Vice Consul Val Roque said the four contracted the virus in the Philippines and not in Hong Kong.
The first case was a domestic helper who returned for work June 10 and was reported to have a fever by June 12. The domestic helper was reportedly brought to Queen Elizabeth hospital and on June 13 was confirmed to have contracted the A(H1N1) virus.
The second case arrived in Hong Kong June 13 and reportedly came from Bulacan. Found to be showing flu-like symptoms, the OFW was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital where on June 14, she was confirmed to be positive for the A(H1N1) virus.
Roque said the two are recovering and were eating well. He said they were not chronically ill nor bedridden.
The third and fourth cases involved two sisters who arrived in Hong Kong June 11 with their mother reportedly for a social visit.
The 15-year old girl was the first found to have a fever at the airport when they arrived and they were immediately brought to Princess Margaret hospital. She and her eight-year old sister were confirmed to have the A(H1N1) virus June 14. The two were expected to be discharged by June 19, said Roque.
Their mother meanwhile was transferred to another facility only for quarantine since she has tested negative for the virus.
