UK still needs more Filipina nurses and caregivers
Despite the global crisis, Filipina nurses and caregivers are still in demand in the United Kingdom.
Even nurses who have not taken the board exams can qualify to work in a UK-based caring home.
The good part is that the British Embassy in Manila has shortened the processing of UK work and student visas. What used to be a three- to four-month processing can now be over in just four to six weeks.
Consul General Teresa de Vega and British Ambassador Designate Stephen Lillie were exclusively interviewed by the ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau.
“Meron naman po demand para sa mga nurses, para sa ibang skilled professionals,” said de Vega.
“I think it’s obviously an area of opportunity. How many people will be recruited obviously has to be determined by the health service here in accordance with points-based system,” added Ambassador Designate Lillie.
The Caring Career Training (CCT) Company is one of the four legitimate recruiters of Filipina nurses and carers into the UK through a student visa. It requires a minimum two-year school training.
The nurses and carers receive a monthly modest pay, which progresses depending on their performance at the assigned caring home.
Almost 200 nurses had already been recruited by CCT, and they appear to be happy with the training facilities and accommodation.
“May mga paperworks talaga. May mga workbooks, mga sasagutan,,, related naman sa work,” commented Joanne Timbol.
“Naghahanap din sila ng mga work plans namin pero hindi naman kami pinapabayaan,” said Sheila Gonzaga.
But CCT clarified that there is an initial corresponding free of 3,500 pounds (P300,000) to cover training, food and accommodation expenses including the visa.
This does not yet cover the plane fare which the applicant has to pay.
Jay Mariano, CCT overseas director, said, “In the Philippines, we do not receive the money. What happens is that they do the transactions straight to the UK. Para po may receipt sila .”
Based on statistics, there is an annual increase of 10 percent in the manpower requirements of UK caring homes. Unlike in the Philippines, the population of adults is much higher in the UK.
Apart from nurses, the Philippine Embassy said there is also a demand for plumbers and electricians.

CCT Payment Scheme
I am very glad that you have raised your observations regarding the payment scheme that CCT adopts.
We at Caring Careers have adopted a very transparent payment scheme with the use of legitimate financial institutions like the banks. We have adopted this payment scheme to discourage unscrupulous visa consultancies, agencies, fixers and third parties who extravagantly charges their applicants with various fees such as commitment fee, assessment fee, consultation fee, professional fee, visa processing assistance fees and other hidden charges. This is primarily TO PROTECT YOU - the applicant from being robbed in broad daylight.
Our official REGISTRATION offices in the Philippines are PROHIBITED to accept direct payments from our students to prevent unnecessary mark-ups! YOU WILL ONLY be PAYING the EXACT AMOUNT to the appropriate body to which you need to pay.
If you have to pay the administration fee and the course fee to CCT, you have to pay it through bank transfer and CCT will acknowledge receipt of your payment in the Visa Letter that they will issue to you.
If you have to pay for the Visa application fee, you need to pay through the accredited banks suggested by the UK Embassy Visa Section (any of the following banks: Standard Charter, Metrobank, Banco de Oro or BPI). You will also be issued a receipt by the VAC after you have submitted your documents for appraisal.
If you have to pay for your air fare, you need to pay the travel agency or the official representative of the carrier of your choice. Receipts for your payments will also be issued by them.
In all of these financial transactions, the official REGITRATION offices of CCT will be assisting you without charging you a single penny for the assistance that they have extended.
Having said that, we make sure that all our registration offices are properly registered with the appropriate Philippine governement agencies such as the DTI, BIR, SSS, Pag-Ibig and the Local Government Business Permits and Licenses Division for us to to legally operate as the contact offices of Caring Careers Training Ltd.
I hope I have given you the explanation that you need.
Thank you.

What is the best way to check the legality of the Consultancy before doing a transaction with them.
Regarding CCT in Baguio City. the process of payment method is through bank transaction. can a bank receipt can be means of official receipt or it must still accompanied by a received letter/receipt from the consultancy here in the Philippines.
What Government institution can be use to search what is the accredited to do business as study abroad with regards to CCT in UK and consultancy here in the Philippines...
in the UK

Student visa processing time
Hello Mr Danny Buenafe I am a Filipino-British nurse here in the UK I would like to express my disbelief when I saw the news regarding the processing of student visa for nurses who come to the UK as caregivers which apparently was fast tracked to 3 weeks. Is this only for those who applied thru an agency like CCT company? because I have sponsored my sister in law for a student visa she had applied on March 23, 2009 and up until now there is no news from the embassy. In fact according to their website the processing time reaches up to 60 days and only 39% are given a visa. Who do we believe and who can help us to verify this facts and when can my sister in laws application be released as it is more than 60 days now. This is so unfair if they give priority to those who apply thru the agency. I think everyone has the right to be given an answer whether or not one had applied directly or thru an agency. Thank you very! I hope you will enlighten me about this.
