VIENNA – As part of their month-long European Tour, five Filipino young artists participated in the Young Art Philippines Campaign in Vienna. The artists said it is their first exhibit at the Museum for Young Art (MOYA) in Vienna, Austria.

This exhibit by five multi-awarded Philippine artists, namely, Eman Santos, Jojo Austria, Robert Fernandez, Marcial Pontillas and Sam Penaso, is organized by Ver Cuizon and Bill Perez in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Vienna and with the support of the Filipino community.

Nene Jarabe, one of the sponsors of the Young Artist’s Exhibition told ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau that her group, the SOS Philippines, is very glad to be one of the sponsors of the exhibit since this is one way of opening new opportunities for artistic recognition and thus help enhance the careers of talented and promising painters.

Ambassador Lacanlale and Dr. Haydar Sari, Chief of the Intercultural Affairs of the City of Vienna cut the inaugural ribbon during the reception.

In her remarks, Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale noted that the Embassy welcomes the exhibit as a way to deepen Europe’s appreciation of the Philippines, citing that the five young artists "bring with them the idealism, sensitivity and the ingenuity of their generation as well the openness of their art and healthy interaction with global influences."

The five artists handed over a typical Filipino scenery painting to the Philippine Embassy as token of gratitude for the warm welcome afforded to them.
