Fans in UK still can't get over Jackson's passing
LONDON - It has been three days since the death of Michael Jackson, but British fans still have not been able to get over it.
Many still flock to the entrance gate of the O2 Arena in London to offer players, flowers and other souvenir items, unmindful of the heavy rainfall.
The O2 Arena was supposed to be the venue of the King of Pop’s comeback concert which was slated to start on July 13.
Best friends Chanice Hayes and Amy Roberts are diehard fans of Jackson who had been going on and off to the concert site for the past three days.
Both 12 years old, the two could still not believe their music idol is gone.
Hayes and Roberts were booked to watch the first day concert of Jackson. They said they will not claim for a refund, noting that the ticket is the best souvenir they can keep to remember their idol.
They also have no plans to change the ringing tone of their mobile phone, which is “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” from Jackson’s “Off the Wall” album.
Both girls will join a planned huge birthday bash for Jackson on Aug. 29 at the O2 Arena.
Meantime, Filipino fans of the pop legend were also there to offer flowers.
Victor Blanco claimed he had the rare chance of meeting the pop superstar at the Dorchester Hotel in 1990.
“Na-meet ko ‘yon minsan… mismo sa Dorchester Hotel. Doon ako sa room service noon. So may close contacts ako sa mga customer,” he shared. A native of Isabela, Blanco is now married to an Indonesian with two children.
Like many others, Victor could not get hold of a concert ticket as tickets were sold out in hours.
Organizers said the ticket refund process will start this week.
