Filipinos close to Michael Jackson's heart

Pop legend Michael Jackson once described Filipinos as beautiful people. This was according to a Filipina nurse based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tess De Leon said she had the opportunity to chat with Jackson when the singer visited their clinic in the past. It was Jackson who told her that Filipinos are close to his heart.
“Are you a Filipino? Sabi ko yes. You know what? Filipino people are beautiful people sabi niya,” De Leon said.
De Leon is keeping a piece of paper with Jackson's autograph which would serve as her memory of the King of Pop.
Meanwhile, Jackson’s death shocked Filipinos in Las Vegas.
“Whatever people say about him, negative, it always gets overshadowed kung ano yung ginawa niya para sa music industry para sa buhay ng tao, sa mga taong inimpluwensiyahan niya," a Filipino fan said.
Jackson used to perform with his siblings in a group called the Jackson 5 at Ballys in the 1970s.
Singer Imelda Papin also mourns the loss of a great artist. Papin lives in Encino, California where the Jackson family resides.
“Actually mayroon kami schedule na pumunta sa kanila para bisitahin ang parents niya. Nakakalungkot dahil kapitbahay lang namin sa Encino,” she said. Report from Bev Llorente, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau, Las Vegas
