Authorities in Saudi Arabia suspect that robbery was the motive behind the killing of a Filipino woman in Al-Khobar last month.

ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau correspondent Florante Catanus reported that an unidentified suspect stabbed Laila Castaño inside her flat in Al-Khobar on the morning of June 28.

Castaño’s two mobile phones and wallet were missing from the flat.

The victim, who was believed to be in her 50’s, was stabbed eight times by the suspect.

Castaño’s bloodied body was discovered later in the afternoon by her husband Ric, reports said.

It was learned that the victim usually stayed at home alone while her husband reported for work as a project engineer of ARAMCO in the town of Abqaiq.

The victim’s remains were brought to a morgue in Damman Central Hospital while investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office advised Filipinos to remain vigilant at all times. Report from Florante Catanus, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau, correspondent
