Saudi police say Pinay admits to killing Castaño

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have reportedly identified the suspect in the killing of a Filipino woman in Al-Khobar last June.

According to a police report, a Filipina friend of the victim has admitted to the killing. The identity of the suspect was not given.

ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau reported earlier that Laila Castaño was found dead inside her flat in Al-Khobar on the morning of June 28.

Investigation reportedly showed that the suspect, reportedly a friend for 20 years of the victim, had a heated discussion with the victim that resulted in the stabbing of Castaño. The victim, who was believed to be in her 50’s, was stabbed eight times by the suspect.

Castaño’s bloodied body was discovered later in the afternoon by her husband Ric, reports said.

The investigation reportedly also ruled out the involvement of the victim’s husband, Ric, who was reportedly the initial suspect of Saudi authorities.

Ric was reportedly investigated thoroughly since police said they did not find any indication of forced entry in the couple’s home.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia had also earlier suspected that robbery was the motive behind the killing. Castaño’s two mobile phones and wallet were reported missing from the flat.

It was learned that the victim usually stayed at home alone while her husband reported for work as a project engineer of ARAMCO in the town of Abqaiq.
