Two Filipino migrant workers were killed after they were hit by a car in Rome, Italy, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau reported.

The victims were identified as Jennifer Nicholas, 49, and Carmelita Tejada, 58 both natives of Pangasinan.

"Hindi ko matanggap kasi isipin mo naman naghihintay lamang ng bus sa Fermata, papasok tapos ganun ang mangyayari," said Nicholas’s son Jefferson.

Both victims were hit by a car while waiting for a bus on their way to work at Via Cassia.

"Parang babagsak na rin ako, lalo na ng makita ko na ang bangkay niya dito wala na. Hindi ko na alam ang gagawin ko," said Tejada’s sister Rowena Buenaventura.

Tejada was declared dead on the spot while Nicholas was rushed to a hospital but died the next day.

"Napakasakit. Sa totoo lang, maghapon ako na hindi ako nakapagtrabaho ng maayos," said the victims’ friend Irene Flordeliz.

Sigfred Tejada was with his mother when the tragedy struck. He luckily escaped the accident unharmed.

"Hindi na ako nakalapit kasi masyadong tragic iyong pagkaanu, kasi kita ko pa iyong mukha niya," he said.

Sigfred said he saw a car spin out of control when another vehicle bumped its hood and then crashed into his mother and her friend.

"Una, may kotse na paikot sa Supermercato. All of a sudden, lumabas itong isa pang kotse na kulay gray then nabangga niya iyong nguso ng papunta sa supermarket then na-out of control iyon umikot siya ng 2-3 times then papunta sa amin then tumama iyong puwit kina mama at Tita Jhen," he said.

Another Filipina who escaped the tragedy was Anna Santos.

"Sobrang pasasalamat ko iyon, hindi ko alam nagtago lang ako doon di ko alam na ligtas pala ako doon. Alam ko na sobrang bilis noong kotse na paparating sa amin," Santos said.

Meanwhile, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) promised to help in the immediate repatriation of the victims’ remains to the Philippines.

“Tutulungan namin sila sa cost ng shipment ng remains. Nakausap na namin ang Philippine services inaayos na namin everything with the assistance to the nationals," said OWWA’s Ann Gregorio.

Relatives of the victims have already filed a case against the suspect. -- Report from Jocelyn Ruiz, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau correspondent, Italy

Traven Ban

Just like here in Afghanistan, perhaps Noli de Castro should also issue a travel ban to Italy to avoid OFWs from being killed..
