At least five to 10 Filipino maids leave their employers in Kuwait every day due to nonpayment of salaries, verbal abuse or even sexual harassment , a Kuwait Times report said Monday.
According to Philippine Labor Attache Josephus Jimenez, there are currently around 176 runaway housemaids being housed at the embassy's Filipino Workers Resource Center (FWRC).
He said some of the workers are repatriated back to the country while others choose to stay and choose a different employer. The workers routinely cite non-payment of salaries, verbal abuse and sexual harassment as reasons for fleeing.
