OFW from Saudi dies onboard flight home
A returning Filipino worker from Saudi Arabia died Wednesday while on board his plane to the Philippines.
Lourdes Lorrente went to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday expecting to welcome husband Joel who was supposed to return from Jeddah.
She was however reportedly fetched by representatives of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and brought inside the clinic of NAIA.
She said she first thought her husband was just being treated in the clinic, probably being given oxygen. She said she knew that her husband had throat cancer but she said she did not know what stage it was.
She was told however that her husband has died on the plane.
Lourdes said her husband was a maintenance supervisor at Tashelat Marketing Company in Jeddah. She said he worked there for 8 ½ years.
A Dr. Somera of the NAIA ramp clinic said the OFW died from cardio-pulmonary arrest at 6 a.m. onboard Saudia Airlines flight SV 868 Wednesday. The plane arrived 3 p.m. in Manila.
Somera said he was the one who attended to the OFWs remains when it was brought to the clinic.
