A 25-year-old domestic worker escaped from the brutal hands of her lady employer in Dubai, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau reported.

Nona (not her real name) could hardly walk and has very visible whip marks on her face and body.

She recently escaped from her abusive Lebanese employer and was brought to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) by community leader Tess Bautista.

Nona said that her employer would use an extension cord to whip her.

At one point, she tearfully recounted how her employer continued whipping her that left her bloodied.

Nona said she did not experience physical abuse when she first worked in Lebanon.

“Hindi ko po akalain na magagawa niya ito. Kahit minsan di ko naranasan sa Lebanon ito,” she said.

Aside from being whipped, her employer also burned her feet with the use of a flat iron.

Also, her employer did not pay her for one year and seven months.

Nona is determined to pursue justice.

"Gusto ko siyang makulong at mapagbayaran ang nagawa niya sa akin," Nona said.

Bautista said that jealousy often drives female employers to maltreat their domestic help.

"Siguro nagseselos kung paano inaasikaso yung pamilya nung amo o sa bahay," Bautista said.

More than 100 runaway OFWs are now in Dubai. Most of them complain about lack of food, unpaid wages, sexual and physical abuses.
