A Filipino overseas worker landed in a hospital after the bulldozer he was operating fell into a ravine in Najaran Region in Saudi Arabia, Balitang Middle East reported.
ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau correspondent Andy Relox reported that Eulogio Garcia’s legs are now paralyzed after he fractured his spinal cord from the accident.
“Lumundag siya sa bulldozer, umiwas siya, naipit paa niya,” said Marjorie Villega, director of nursing of the King Khalid Hospital Al-Najaran.
Doctors there placed metal braces on Garcia’s back after more than three months of treatment.
Garcia is still confined at the hospital. He only hopes to be able to come home to his family back in the Philippines.
However, he could not do so because his hospital bills amounting to about 50,000 Saudi riyals have yet to be settled.
The OFW has appealed for help from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to pay his hospital bills as well as his treatment when he is finally sent home.
