MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs issued a circular to Philippine posts abroad on Sunday on the procedure in processing donations from donors willing to extend assistance to Filipinos affected by typhoon “Ondoy”.

The DFA stated that cash donations for typhoon victims can be deposited to the Department of Social Welfare and Development bank account, the details may be found in the DSWD website.

Filipino communities concerned about the tragedy caused by typhoon Ondoy had asked Philippine Posts, particularly the Philippine Consulates General in Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Dubai on where to give their donations.

The DFA’s circular states the mechanics of processing donations from foreign sources, per the guidelines of the DSWD.

The DFA is closely coordinating with the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) and the DSWD on how assistance from Filipino communities overseas may be best harnessed to aid the flood victims.

I would like to help the

I would like to help the flood victims, but I am afraid that if we give cash donations, it will just end up in the pockets of our corrupt politicians instead of the flood victims!!!
