Pinoys in Saudi Arabia crown Ginoo at Binibining Pilipinas 2009
Nesreen Khurshid and Jerome Barrera- Ginoo at Binibining Pilipinas-KSA 2009
Nesreen Khurshid, a 15-year old high school junior from Jeddah, and 23-year old Jerome Barrera were recently crowned "Ginoo at Binibining Pilipinas-KSA 2009,” the most prestigious beauty and personality search for the Filipino communities in Saudi Arabia.
Kurshid, a half-Filipina, half-Egyptian student at Durat al Shark International School, bested 11 other candidates from Jeddah and Riyadh at the coronation night held last October 15 at the Philippine Embassy diplomatic quarters in Riyadh. Barrera works as a salesman and visual merchandiser in Al Hokair in Riyadh.
Kurshid's “Panagbenga” costume, designed by Rey Loyola, also romped away with the Best Festival Costume award. Loyola received the Best Designer award.
Khurshid's mother is OFW Norijam Salleh, who was married to Egyptian national Mohammad Kurshid.
Other winners in the tilt were Antonio Isip and Nerissa Tolentino, first runner up; Mark Galang and Lady Princess Sengson, 2nd runner up; and Chris Redondo and Beverly De Luna, 3rd runners up.
