Fil-Am leaders call on Arroyo to resign
Filipino community leaders said President Arroyo should resign after she declared her bid for Congress last December 1.
Alice Bulos, founding president of the FilAm Democratic Club said it's a question of ethics.
“I'm emphasizing that you must be respected. There's such dignity that needs to be upheld," Bulos said.
As President, Arroyo is also the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and holds the power to appoint and relieve officials. She can also disburse or withhold funds.
Charito Benipayo, chair of the FilAm Republicans of Northern California, said that in the interest of fair play, Arroyo should step down because she has government resources at her disposal.
“Baka hindi natin alam may sarili siyang agenda. Gagamitin niya sa kanyang kampanya. Gagamitin niya sa kanyang power," said Benipayo.
US should intervene
Both Filipino political leaders think President Obama should step in and help ensure a fair and honest election in the Philippines.
“He must reach out to the Arroyo administration, considering that number one is to maintain peace and order in the country," said Bulos.
“Put pressure. Make her aware. Tell her enough is enough," Benipayo added.
They also said Arroyo should let Vice President Noli de Castro take over while she campaigns for Congress to make sure all presidential duties are carried out.
However, community leader Rodel Rodis said Arroyo does not need to leave her post as president during the campaign season.
“Even if she doesn't lift a finger, she will win. She's already made 50 visits in that area with infrastructure projects. This is a non-issue because she doesn't need to campaign," Rodis said.
Up against Arroyo in the second district of Pampanga are architect Adonis Simpao of the Liberal Party, electronics engineer Feliciano Serrano, and entrepreneur Filipinas Sampang.
Even without taking time out to campaign, supporters say Arroyo will win because her family has served Pampanga well.

DELICADEZA DICTATES ARROYO SHOULD RESIGN
With the presidential resources at her disposal during her congressional campaign, what else we expect? Public funds is used to buy votes, to cheat, etc...
Ano ba naman kayo mga tuta kayo...an election protest will do the job better than all those presidential sychopants who are advising Arroyo the other way around.
Why involve Pres. Obama?
Since these two Fil-Am leaders don't live in the Philippines, they have no idea what they are talking about. Ignorant fools!! Agenda? Ano pa bang hidden agenda does she needs? Apparently she's a candidate of a lower post compared to the presidency so what more harm can she still do? If she wins and most of us are worried of her becoming a Prime Minister or whatever, then the questions is how many Congressmen and women do we have? Siguro naman not all of them will let her manipulate them or else we are just going to elect a bunch of STUPID people to run our country. It's the Filipino's call, not any foreigners.
Okay na sana kung sabihin
Okay na sana kung sabihin mong dapat hindi na tumakbo si Gloria in any government positions after her term as President. Pero sinama mo pa ang President ng America, since makikialam na rin ang America sa Pilipinas why not maglagay uli sila dito ng Base Militar? O better kunin na lang ulit nila ang Pilipinas and make it another US State.
