As of 1500H around 41% of the 5,488 MW total power load in the Luzon grid has been restored by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)
Masinloc 1 with 300 MW and Malaya 2 with 350 MW Load are expected to be synchronized to the grid by 1800H and midnight respectively. By that time, approximately 57% of the power load in the Luzon grid would have been restored but more power plants like Sual 2 and Malaya 1 are expected to go online after completion of equipment test.
Meanwhile, Sucat-Araneta and Malaya-Dolores 230-kV lines, which directly feed electricity to Meralco have already been energized at 1211H and 1230H respectively.
The Power system in Southern Luzon, from Quezon to the Bicol region, was also restored at 1429H.
Almpst a hundred linemen of NGCP have been deployed to immediately patrol and repair transmission facilities damaged by the passage of typhoon Basyang.
Power in Metro Manila is expected to normalize within one to two days, restoring the damage facilities would take about three to four days.

Power restored to 20.2% of Meralco customers as of 2 p.m.
The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said that more distribution circuits are being energized as additional power supply from NGCP becomes available. As of 2:00pm, 135 out of 683 (20%) distribution circuits, 68 out of 84 (81%) sub-transmission lines and 67 out of 112 (60%) substations have been energized. This translates to around 956,000 or 20.2% out of the 4.7 million Meralco customers who have their power restored.
Meralco, however, said that even if it finishes its restoration work ahead of time, transmission constraints on the part of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) would have to be resolved before power can be fully restored in the entire Meralco franchise area. Earlier reports said that the NGCP announced that it may take 2 to 3 days to fully restore damaged power transmission lines across Metro Manila and surrounding provinces in Luzon which have been affected by Typhoon Basyang.
For its part, Meralco, through its External Communications Manager Joe Zaldarriaga, assured that Meralco crew still continue to work double time as they repair damaged Meralco facilities.
“As of the moment, 38 broken distribution poles are still being replaced along with the restringing of 26 spans of downed primary lines. Tests are likewise being done on our Dasmariñas Substation Transformer Bank No. 1, which earlier experienced tripping.”
Zaldarriaga said, “Our crews have been working round the clock to restore power in affected areas. We would like to ensure first, too, that all obstructions have been cleared in some areas, like toppled trees and billboards, before we restore power to assure the safety of everyone. However, we are also constrained in our restoration work as some transmission facilities were affected by the strong winds. This results in limited power that we can distribute at the moment. We would, however, continue to coordinate with all concerned parties to be able to restore power at the soonest and most reasonable time possible.”
