MANILA, Philippines – Is Floyd Mayweather Jr. leaving Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions (GBP)?

This seems evident when Mayweather Jr.’s close friend, rapper 50 Cent, engaged De la Hoya in a Twitter war.

According to Yahoo! Sports [12], 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, apparently signed up Mayweather with his The Money Team (TMT) Promotions.

"@oscardelahoya I don't gamble floyd do,but I bet you won't be promoting Floyd mayweather no more. TMT PROMOTIONS," taunts 50 Cent, who recently got a New York promoter's license.

Mayweather himself has a promotional outfit but had to work in tandem with GBP for his past six fights since his firm doesn’t have a promoter's license.

"@oscardelahoya sweet heart I'm surprised you would respond to me and Floyd starting the company the way you did," says 50 Cent’s follow-up tweet to De la Hoya.

De la Hoya, who has since deleted all of his Tweets to 50 Cent, replied: "@50cent your a boxing promoter? good luck maybe we can work someday. #success #nextgeneration #GBB #TMT"

The rapper tweeted again, saying he accepts De la Hoya’s apology.

"Great back pedal, can you swim backwards like that to girl?lol I except that as a apology.#GBB #TMT more success a head."

Also reportedly signing up with 50 Cent's new company are former Olympian Yuriorkis Gamboa and super middleweight Andre Dirrell.

Mayweather is currently spending time in jail for pleading guilty over a demosic battery charge.

The boxer is scheduled to be released on August 3.
