[11]MANILA, Philippines – Former Manny Pacquiao opponent Marco Antonio Barrera thinks the Filipino boxer has evolved into a much stronger fighter compared to the one he fought many years ago.
“When he fought with me he was a completely different person,” Mexico’s “Baby-faced Assassin” told ESNewsreporting’s Elie Seckbach [12].
Barrera recently visited the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles to interview Pacquiao for TV Azteca.
He was impressed after seeing Pacquiao’s preparation for the Juan Manuel Marquez fight.
“His body, his work, his people--and I think he is stronger now,” said Barrera.
Barrera lost twice to Pacquiao.
The Filipino battered the Mexican boxer to an 11th round stoppage in 2003.
This was followed by Pacquiao’s unanimous decision win over Barrera in 2007.
Barrera believes the fourth Pacquiao-Marquez fight will be as competitive as the first three bouts.
He agrees that Pacquiao needs to knock Marquez out to avoid any controversy.
“It is going to be a good fight. I think Manny needs to find a knock out so there won't be any controversy.”
