MANILA, Philippines – A former seaman was shot dead by a robber in Bulacan on Friday evening, police said.
The victim, identified as Agapito Flavier, had just withdrawn P600,000 from a bank near a supermarket in Guiguinto when he and his niece, identified only as Helen, were suddenly blocked by an armed man.
Initial investigation showed that the two were on their way to Malolos when the unidentified suspect grabbed Flavier's bag containing the cash and shot him in the chest at around 10:30 p.m.
Flavier was dead on the spot.
Authorities said that closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage showed that the suspect sped away on board a motorcycle with another man.
They said it is possible that the suspect had an accomplice.
Police have yet to identify the suspect. Investigations are still ongoing. -- Report from Jake Morales, dzMM
