In an interview with ABS-CBN News after the awards night at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater in Quezon City, Gamboa said she could not really gather the right words to express how she feels.
“I am so honored. I am so ecstatic. Masayang masaya ako. This is my first award. Siyempre na-overwhelm ako. Wala akong masabi kundi it is an honor winning this award,” she said.
“Gusto kong i-share 'yung trophy ko sa aking mga nakasama, 'yung aming tatlong direktor na napakagagaling and, of course, sa ABS-CBN,” the actress added.
Gamboa said she is happy to finally win an award with her third television series with the Kapamilya network.
The veteran actress admitted that she did not really feel nervous prior to the awards night.
“Kasi ako it doesn’t matter kasi magkakasama kami sa industriya. Magkakapatid kami so okay lang iyon. To be a nominee is an honor already,” she said.
Gamboa won the Best Drama Actress award in a tie with veteran actress Nora Aunor for her series with TV5 "Sa Ngalan ng Ina."
Gamboa and Aunor beat five other actresses including Dawn Zulueta and Susan Rocess also for their performance in “Walang Hanggan,” Janice de Belen for “Budoy,” Rochelle Pangilinan for “Amaya” and Xyriel Manabat for “100 Days To Heaven.”
