MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) student, who was stabbed to death in Laguna on Monday, has been laid to rest.

Maria Victoria Reyes was laid to rest in Forest Lake Memorial Park at around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Aside from family and friends of the victim, several members of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) also attended the funeral.

VACC again pushed for the death penalty to be restored in cases of heinous crimes.

The 16-year-old Reyes was killed inside her home in Biñan.

The suspect, Benigno Nayle, is now in police custody. -- Report from Henry Atuelan, dzMM
