MANILA, Philippines – Filipino doubles specialist Treat Huey and his British partner, Dominic Inglot, won their second ATP World Tour title after claiming the doubles crown at the Swiss Indoors in Basel.
Huey and Inglot defeated Julian Knowle and Oliver Marach in the 65-minute final, 6-3, 3-6 and 10-4.
According to the ATP website, Huey and Inglot’s victory kept alive their chances of claiming one of the last three doubles berths at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in November.
“It is such a great feeling to have won a title again, after not having won one this year,” said Iglot. “We left it late, but better late than never. We worked on a few things during the summer and I think it is paying off in the fall, winter.”
Huey and Inglot will share the €102,780 prize money and earned 500 ATP ranking points, climbing to 11th place in the ATP Doubles Team Rankings.
“It feels amazing. We really enjoy this tournament, but we came out knowing we had to defend a final. It can put pressure on you. I was not hitting the ball that great, but Treat has been pushing me hard,” Inglot said.
The pair is now off to Paris where they will play in the BNP Paribas Masters.
“We’ll hopefully have a good week there,” said Huey.
