LOS ANGELES, California – Hollywood's sports and showbiz personalities have been buzzing over Filipino boxing icon Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's much-awaited fourth match against Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez next week in Las Vegas.
Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg and his son were at the Wild Card Gym last Friday as Pacquiao's workout was livestreamed into New York's Times Square.
Pacquiao then had dinner with former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.
The Filipino boxer also sponsored a Filipino-organized Hollywood red carpet fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Sandy over the weekend. Though Pacquiao could not personally attend the event, he left a message for the flood-ravaged victims in the East coast.
"Don't lose hope. There's always hope with God. Restore your relationship with God because only God can change everything and bring it all back," Pacquiao said.
The world of sports and showbiz came to support the Pacman's cause, including some former opponents and fellow ring legends. Some also gave their predictions on the result of Pacquiao-Marquez IV.
"It's probably going to end up the same – another exciting fight," said former world champion Shane Mosley. "But I think Pacquiao, he always comes through. It's going to be a good fight though. You never could tell."
"It's just how the judges feel they're going to judge this time, but... I think it’s going to be the same type of fight," he added.
"Oh he always wins. There's no doubt about that. He's always the winner," said DJ Mia de Guzman of "America's Best Dance Crew."
Holyfield said both Pacquiao and Marquez "have to be on their toes." "It's an even match and always have been. It’s another tough fight," he said.
More celebrities are expected to be at ringside at the December 8th main event, as Pacquiao's new business partner, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, is scheduled to perform on fight night.
